All Progressives Congress, (APC) leaders in Okitipupa, headquarters of Okitipupa Local Government have congratulated Prince Okunjimi Odimayo, as he emerged winner of Saturday’s general elections for Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency.
They described his victory as well deserved.
Speaking with our correspondent, the Chairman of APC in Okitipupa, Mr. Bode Ikulala, appreciated voters who trooped out to exercise their civic rights which led to the Odimayo’s victory.
In the same vein, the Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, Mr. Ladi Okunniga, who also hails from the local government, described the outcome of the election as the wish of the people.
According to him, “Prince Jimi Odimayo worked hard for his overwhelming victory against a serving House of Representatives, candidate of PDP.”
He, therefore wished him the best of luck in his new assignment.
Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Prince Okunjimi Odimayo APC candidate for Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency as the winner of Saturday’s general election.
Reports had it that Odimayo polled 70,758 votes to defeat his main rival and incumbent Gboluga Ikengboju of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 35,539 votes.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer, Prof. Olabode Olatubosun, on Sunday in Okitipupa declared Odimayo winner of the poll.
“Having polled the highest number of votes of 70,758 against 35,539, I hereby declare, Odimayo of APC winner of the election in Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency.
“I Prof. Olatubosun, by the power conferred on me as the INEC’s Returning Officer for this election and having satisfied the highest number of votes, I hereby declared Odimayo, returned as elected,’ Olatubosun said.
