The Ondo State branch of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the late State Commissioner for Health, Dr Wahab Adegbenro as a party man to the core who will be greatly missed for his selfless and dedicated contribution to the party in the state.
The tribute was contained in a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Alex Kalejaiye yesterday. He recalled Adegbenro’s gallantry efforts in the forefront of the battle against COVID 19 pandemic in the state. The party said the late commissioner was a party man to the core who would be greatly missed.
He was readily accessible, humble and dependable. His commitment to the general wellbeing of people within and outside his circle was unparalleled.
Adegbenro, a two- time Commissioner in Ondo State led a rancour-free lifestyle.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, and Ifedore Local Government area in particular, would find it difficult to replace this committed and pragmatic leader.
Although, the party is deeply traumatised by this huge loss, we pray God to console his immediate family, the people of Ifedore, Muslim community, and the Government of Ondo State. We also pray that his soul will find peace with his creator.
Also yesterday, the Speaker of Ondo State House of Assembly, Mr Bamidele Oleyeloogun described the sudden death of the Health Commissioner as sudden and a colossal lost.
“The news of the sudden death of Commissioner of Health, Dr. Wahab Adegbenro caught me unaware. What a sudden attack and a snatch of virtues by fate.
The gentleman’s death is a colossal loss to me, the Ifedore LG people, APC family and the State at large. I still can’t swallow the efficacy of the news. It is such a shock I can’t bear.
“Dr. Adegbenro till his death few hours ago was a quiet, accommodating and generous man.
“As I sympathize with the family, the LG, APC family and the State at large, I pray God ministers to our hearts all, for a fortitude to bear the loss.”
In a condolence message to the people of Ondo State, the Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Omotayo Alasoadura expressed shock at the demise of Dr. Wahab Adegbenro.
With a heavy heart, I commiserate with the entire family and government of Ondo State on the demise of our very humane, philanthropic, humble, kind and professionally professional Dr Wahab Adegbenro, the Commissioner for Health for Ondo State and the commander of the field operation against the deadly coronavirus pandemic. May the Lord God bless the family with the fortitude to bear his painful and irreparable loss. His works and humility which are legendary will be remembered long after him.
Alasoadura prayed that God would grant him a place in Al-Jannah Fridaus, comfort his immediate family, and give them the fortitude to bear the loss.
