By Jubril Bada

There was a large turnout of party members in Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State in the ongoing governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress(APC).

The exercise witnessed presence of security agencies such as Nigeria Police Force, NSCDC among others in all the wards across the council.

Although voting materials were yet to arrive as at 11:32am in all the 11 political wards in the local government, the materials later arrived and members began to cast their vote.

Speaking with journalists, a chieftain of the party, Mr Olumuyiwa Adu, said that it has become imperative for the members to know that the governorship primary election is a family affair.

He said, “As one of the chieftains l must ensure everywhere is calm, we wouldn’t want situation where just one party will be having rancour.

“And also it’s the responsibility of leaders to ensure that whenever there is problem the situation must be put under control to let public understand that APC is one family.

“I have said it time without numbers that he who God does not give crown cannot have it. So, the only thing we need to do is for us to use our senses to determine who is the best and vote for that person.

“We all share the responsibility, mine is what I am doing as leader of the party just to ensure they remain calm and wait till electoral officers carry out their function.

“So, we can not tell them what they should do or not do, we are subjecting and responsible to higher authority.”
