APC slams PDP over post-election falsehoods

By Sade Adewale

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Ondo State Chapter, has strongly refuted recent claims made by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing them as baseless and a desperate attempt to stay relevant.

In a statement issued by the party’s Director of Media and Publicity, Mr. Steve Otaloro, the APC accused the PDP of resorting to misinformation and propaganda following its defeat in the November 16, 2024, governorship election.

“It is unfortunate that the PDP, rather than engage in constructive criticism, has chosen to peddle falsehoods aimed at discrediting the government of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa,” Otaloro said. “Since their loss, they’ve become more interested in spreading discord than contributing meaningfully to public discourse.”

The APC clarified that all ongoing projects initiated during the administration of the late Governor Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu are receiving full attention and are being executed under the leadership of Governor Aiyedatiwa, who served as Deputy Governor during that tenure.

“It is illogical to suggest that Governor Aiyedatiwa would abandon the legacy of a government he was an integral part of. Projects like the Oda Road and its extensions are not only ongoing but have been recently commissioned, reflecting our administration’s commitment to continuity and development,” Otaloro stated.

The APC also took a swipe at the PDP’s internal troubles, noting that the opposition party has witnessed a wave of defections, including sitting governors, yet continues to divert attention from its crisis by targeting the ruling party with fabricated accusations.

“We urge the PDP to focus on its internal disarray and work on rebuilding what’s left of its political structure, instead of manufacturing lies to mislead the public,” Otaloro added.

The APC reaffirmed its dedication to the people of Ondo State and promised to continue executing people-oriented projects that will enhance the state’s growth and development. The party called on all political stakeholders, including the PDP, to put aside divisive politics and join in the collective task of building a better Ondo State.
