Apprentice remanded for stealing motor parts

An Akure Magistrate’s Court has ordered the remand of a 27-year-old man, Damilola Ayodele for allegedly stealing of motor parts, valued at N515,000.
Ayodele was alleged to have stolen the items at night between November 19 and 21 at a mechanic workshop in Omoniyi Estate, Akure.
The defendant was said to be an habitual and wanted criminal terrorizing the area before he was eventually apprehended by the men of the Ondo State Police Command, with his accomplice, one Wasiu Oladeji, 22, who was the receiver of the stolen motor parts.
He was arraigned on three counts bordering on stealing and burglary.
The prosecutor, Mary Adebayo told the court that Ayodele broke into a mechanic workshop belonging to one Sunkanmi Moradeyo and stole the following motor parts; one complete hub valued at N70,000, driving shaft valued at N25,000, brake disk valued at N15,000 .
Others are: two complete shafts, engine block and complete injector, total valued act N320,000, one tools box containing working tools valued N60,000 and one security dog valued N25,000, property of one Dolapo Adepoju making the total valued property stolen to be N515,000.
The offence, according to the charge contravane sections 413(1), 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the offence levelled against him.
Adebayo ,however, urged the court to remand the defendant at Olokuta Correctional Centre pending the determination of the case and she stressed that the defendant is an arbitual criminal whose presence always pose a threat to the community.
The defence counsel, O.Adedire prayed the court to grant the defendant bail on most liberal terms.
The magistrate, Folashade Aduroja granted the prosecutor request and remand the defendant at the Ondo Correctional Centre.
Aduroja hereby, adjourned the case till January for hearing.
