The Aquinas College, Akure Class of 2002/2008 marked its 16th year of reconnection with a reunion party.

The event, held at Blissworld Hotel in Ijapo Estate, Akure, brought together members of the class, fostering networking opportunities and reviving cherished memories.

The gathering was graced by former teachers, including Mrs C.O. Ige, a CRK teacher, alongside Mr Ezekiel Adeusi, a pioneer staff member of the school and Patron of the association.

Other dignitaries in attendance included the National Financial Secretary, Mr Felix Fadeni; Chairman of ACAOSA Home Branch, Oladotun Fadeni; and other prominent members.

Highlights of the event included the presentation of awards to the Patron and Matron, recognising their significant contributions to the academic growth and success of the association.

Speaking at the event, the chairman of ACAOSA ’08, Samuel Olatunde Omosebi, described the reunion as a moment to celebrate enduring bonds and the legacy of their alma mater, Aquinas College, Akure.

“Reunion meetings like this is always a joy to behold and look forward to as we get the opportunity to catch up with old faces and friends, reignite lost relationships and connections, reminisce on old times, soak in old memories and most importantly celebrate the enduring legacy of the institution that brought us together, our prestigious Alma Mater, Aquinas College Akure,” he said.

Omosebi emphasised the values instilled in them by the school, including discipline, character, integrity, and purpose.

He called on members to maintain a spirited passion and unwavering support for the association, urging all Aquinarians to contribute to the growth of their set and ACAOSA at large.

“We are striving towards reigniting and spreading the fire of passion for all things ACAOSA across the functional branches and other sets,” he added.

The keynote speaker, mental health therapist Mrs Oluwaseun Filani, addressed the topic Overwhelmed and Underperforming: ADHD’s Hidden Impact on Your Productivity. Filani highlighted neurological conditions as factors that affect brain and nerve function, impacting thoughts, feelings, and interactions.

According to Filani, ADHD is a developmental disorder characterised by symptoms such as inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. She noted that while these behaviours are common to some degree, individuals with ADHD exhibit them frequently across various settings, including school, work, and home.

Filani explained that ADHD is not synonymous with laziness but is often linked to emotional intensity and overthinking.

She pointed out the strengths of individuals with ADHD, including creativity, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to focus intensely on tasks they enjoy.

She advised individuals experiencing severe neurological symptoms to seek professional diagnosis and treatment, emphasising the importance of understanding and managing the condition.

The Patron of the association, Pastor (Dr) Ezekiel Ayodele Adeusi, encouraged Aquinarians to remain steadfast in their pursuit of excellence, unity, and mutual support.

He reiterated his commitment to advancing the interests of the set and pledged his continued support.

The reunion underscored the enduring camaraderie and shared purpose of the Aquinas College alumni, reaffirming their collective dedication to sustaining the legacy of their alma mater.
