By Agboola Fesobi

The old students of Aquinas College, Akure, Ondo State, gathered on December 15, 2024, for their end-of-the-year celebration and award ceremony at the Henry Ogirri Hall within the school premises.

The event was a blend of excitement, recognition, and nostalgia, as alumni came together to honor their peers who have made outstanding contributions to the development of the school.

Dr. Adewumi Abitoye, chairman of the occasion, expressed gratitude for the lives of the old students and commended the organizing committee for their dedication to planning a successful event despite their busy schedules.

He emphasized the importance of continued support from the alumni, urging members to remain committed to the progress of the institution.

Dr. Abitoye further encouraged members to focus on addressing the challenges currently faced by the school, calling for collective efforts to overcome these obstacles.

In his opening speech, Mr. Fadeni, chairman of the home branch, appealed to members to fulfill their monthly contributions on time.

He highlighted the pressing needs of the alumni, which included the office complex, equipment such as computer sets and printers, five office tables and chairs, five fans, stationary, a generating set, and a public address system, as essential for the institution’s growth and ability to compete with other schools in Ondo State and beyond.

He appealed to members across the globe to arise and contribute meaningfully to alumni who existed over 30 years ago.

The royal father of the day, Oba Luyi Rotimi, an alumnus of the school, delivered a poignant message, reminding everyone that Aquinas College is a singular institution that holds a permanent place in their hearts.
