Army, Amotekun to strengthen ties against crime in Ondo

By Tola Gbadamosi

The Commander of the 32 Artillery Brigade, Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Justin Ifeanyi, has attributed the military’s success in combating crime in Ondo State to the actionable intelligence provided by operatives of the Ondo State Security Network, codenamed Amotekun Corps.

Brigadier General Ifeanyi noted that this intelligence-sharing was made possible by the existing synergy among security agencies in the state.

He made this remark during a courtesy visit to the Commander of the Ondo Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

As the newly appointed commander in the state, he explained that it was necessary for him to introduce himself and familiarise himself with those he would be working with.

“From what I was told, the Army has been working in synergy, particularly at the local level, with your operatives. Most of your men are infused in all the local government areas. They have been passing actionable information.

“We want the already established synergy to continue, and we would like to take it to the next level. We will try and cooperate and work with your people to curtail crime. The prevalent crime is kidnapping,” he said.

In response, the Ondo Amotekun Commander affirmed that the collaboration between the Amotekun Corps and the Nigerian Army remained intact.

He emphasised that the partnership had yielded positive results and expressed his desire for it to continue.
