The Commander of the 32 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General John Lar, has charged two newly promoted senior officers to maintain command and manage their superiors while prioritising the welfare of their men as they take on their new duties.
The assertion was made over the weekend when the officers were decorated with the rank of Major at the Officers’ Mess of the 32 Artillery Brigade, Owena Cantonment, Akure, the Ondo State capital.
The officers, formerly Captains and newly promoted to the rank of Major, are Major Norbert Ugwoke and Major Njoka Irabor.
According to the Commander, he advised, “You will need to manage your superiors and prioritise the welfare of your men. When you do, your men will give their best.”
Lar further advised that as Majors, there is no room for mistakes, and they must be ready at all times.
“It is better to accept wherever you are posted, as you don’t know what God has planned for you. The best officer is the one who knows how to manage his superiors, and at this time, you must acknowledge the present command wherever you go.”
The ceremony was attended by senior officers, including Lieutenant Colonel Yahaya Ardo, Chief of Staff, Headquarters 32 Brigade; Lieutenant Colonel Umar Barau, Commanding Officer, 323 Artillery Regiment; and Lieutenant Colonel Kyari Babakura, Garrison Commander, 32 Brigade.
Also present at the ceremony were the families of the newly promoted officers.
