…as SDP fixes Feb 1 for primaries

The State Working Committee of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, in Ondo State has stated February 1 for the affirmation of primary elections conducted by the party in the 18 local government areas of the state to pick its chairmanship and councillorship candidates for the forthcoming council polls on April 18 this year.
It said the indirect primaries which have been adopted by the party have been held across the 18 councils in the state to produce councillorship and chairmanship candidates for confirmation on February 1.
The State Secretary of the party, Dr. Sola Agboola, who disclosed this in an interview with The Hope, said Indirect option was adopted as allowed by the party’s constitution.
He explained that the State Independent Electoral Commission, ODIEC, would be invited to monitor the affirmation of primaries slated for Saturday February 1 this week, adding that all the candidates must be led to the state party secretariat by their local government chairmen.
His words: ” The candidature of our 2018 candidates who want to contest again shall be affirmed where there are no other aspirants
“Those who had paid before have been exempted from paying afresh”, he added.
