Assembly poll, a huge success – SSG, Baderinwa, others

Secretary to the Ondo State Government, Mr Ifedayo Abegunde and the APC lawmaker representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency, Mr Bamidele Baderinwa , have described the Saturday’s House of Assembly election in the state as peaceful. 

Also, Taye Afilaka and Prince Afolabi Obasuyi, chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress(APC)  respectively commended the smooth conduct of the exercise in their respective areas.

Although there was low turn out of voters in almost all the areas visited by The Hope, especially within Akure metropolis, the exercise was peaceful, free and fair.

There was no record of violence or incidence of ballot box snatching within the state capital just as the electorate cast their ballots for the candidates of their choice in an atmosphere devoid of acrimony.

In all the polling units monitored, voters came out as early as 6:30 am, just as INEC officials, security agents and voting materials arrived most of the polling units as early as 6:20am.

Speaking with journalists on the voting process shortly after casting his ballot at Ward 9, Unit 009, Iwalewa, Akure, the Ondo state capital, the Secretary to the State Government, Ifedayo Abegunde said the entire process went on smoothly without any case of violence in the area.

Abegunde particularly lauded the electorate for coming out to perform their civic responsibility and for voting APC in the area, adding that the state governor Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has done well for the residents of Iwalewa community especially in the area of road construction among others.

He specifically appreciated God for winning his unit which he lost during the Presidential and National Assembly polls, saying that the people in the area voted massively for APC in appreciation of the governor’s kind gesture in the area.

A member of the House of Representatives representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency, Bamidele Baderinwa, who voted at his Ohun-Aro Polling Unit 003, Ero/Ibuji/Mariwo Ward in Ifedore Local Government Area commended INEC officials and the security agents for ensuring a hitch-free poll.

He equally lauded the electorate for their peaceful conduct throughout the exercise.

Also, Afilaka and Obasuyi who described the turn out of voters as not very impressive, however, lauded INEC for the early arrival of voting materials, saying that the state Assembly election was peaceful, free and fair in their respective units which are units 18 and 19, Alagbaka Primary School.

Obasuyi who is also the Agbaka of Alagbaka said the people of the state have decided to move to the next level.

They all described the election as successful and peaceful.
