The Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools, ASUSS, has assured that the recognition of the Union for secondary schools teachers would further boost their morale and deepen industrial harmony among stakeholders in the education sector in Osun state.
The Union also commended the State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola for the review and reversal of some policies in secondary schools, which was a testimony that he listened to the yearning of the people.
National President of ASUSS, Comrade Sam Omaji who disclosed this said that the developments had again confirmed the Governor as a respecter of the rights and freedom of the citizens.
Omaji explained that the Union had variously pleaded with previous administrations on the need to honour secondary school teachers’ constitutional right to form and belong to a union of their choice, but such effort never yielded until the emergence of the present Governor.
“Governor Oyetola has unequivocally further showcased himself as a democrat, defender of the rule of law, the constitution and the interest of the people by this act of approval.
“Although, we have observed with admiration the payment of worker’s salary since his emergence and particularly at a time some Governors with supposed bigger pockets are owing 3 to 4 months salary. These confirmed that the Osun Governor is a pro-people leader with a conscience.”
The ASUSS president assured that the recognition of the union for secondary schools teachers would further boost their morale and deepen industrial harmony among stakeholders in the Education sector in Osun State.
He pledged that the Union would conduct its activities within the confines of the law and support efforts of the government aimed at improving the standard of secondary education in the state.
