The Social Democratic Party (SDP), Ondo State Chapter has said that the Presidential Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the February 16 general elections, Atiku Abubakar would not be serious with the issue of restructuring if elected as the president of the country.

The State Secretary of the party, Dr. Sola Agboola, disclosed this in an interview with The Hope.

He recalled the statement credited to Abubakar in one of the national dailies where he (Abubakar) said he would privatise Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) if elected president of the country, asking what would be left to restructure when the corporation is privatised.

Agboola said Nigerians are not fools that would be deceived with restructuring to win an election.

He said the campaign promises by Atiku on restructuring would not be implemented if destined to be elected as the president due to  legislative delay and the composition of lawmakers at the National Assembly who might not have one voice on restructuring.

According to him, “Nigerians should not forget the composition of the National Assembly as all of them cannot be the PDP members.

“Are they all going to support restructuring?. Why are we deceiving ourselves?. It is better we we go for referendum that will result into parliamentary system of government

“Let Atiku challenge me that he is serious about restructuring. He is not. We are not fools in the country.”

The Secretary, however, felt pity for Pan Yoruba Socio-Cultural group, Afenifere faction led by Chief Reuben Fasoranti for endorsing Abubakar as its presidential candidate.
