Attacks: ODSG assures Omolege, Okeluse communities of safety

The Ondo State Government has assured the people  of Okeluse and Omolege communities in Ose local government area of the state, of adequate protection of their lives and property as security forces have been deployed to restore peace to the area.

The Hope Metro gathered that there was palpable  tension in Okeluse, as some gunmen suspected to be Fulani herders opened fire on a filling station in the community , killing the owner and one of its attendants.

The unfortunate incident, it was learnt, occurred on Sunday evening in Okeluse, after a similar attack on Omolege community, less than 40 kilometers to the town.

According to reports, the  axis has been witnessing series of attacks by suspected herdsmen, who also killed a first-class monarch last year.

Speaking with The Hope Metro, the Senior Special Assistant to the Ondo State Governor on Security Matters, Alhaji Jimoh Dojumo said armed coventional policemen, mobile policemen, Nigerian security and Civil Defense Corps, DSS and Amotekun Corps have been mobilized and deployed to the scenes.

He explained that presence of security men has doused tension in the town as normalcy has since returned and that there is no cause for alarm.

It will be recalled that the owner of the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) station was identified as Aborowa Oladimeji, also known as “Popular”, and a petroleum attendant whose identity was yet to be ascertained, was reportedly killed during the invasion by the suspected herders.

Information from the area said  deadly herdsmen have been terrorising the local government and its environs as residents live in constant fear over possible attack.

Dojumo who said the Governor has given a matching order to all the security forces to as a matter of urgency, fish out the marauders and bring them to justice, hinted that the security personnel in the area is headed by Assistant commissioner of police who doubles as Area commander in Owo.

He called on the general public to always assist the security operatives with useful information that will help bring perpetrators of this dastardly act to book.
