The Chairman, League of Imams and Alfas in Ondo State, Sheikh Ahmad Aladesawe, has declared that any terrorist attacks on Christians and the Christian Community in Nigeria is also an attack on Muslims.

Aladesawe made this declaration while speaking with The Hope during his visit to the scene of the killing of worshipers at Saint Francis Catholic Church, Owo on Monday.

The Islamic cleric who doubles as the Secretary General of the League in the Southwest, Edo and Delta States of Nigeria and the Chief Imam of Owo said there is no where in the Quran where it said a Muslim should kill his fellow human beings.

According to him, those who committed the act of Sunday morning were not Muslims but bunch of heartless criminals.

He stated that Muslims should always be their brothers keeper, irrespective of the religious divide, as obtained in the Southwest where people of the two faiths live together harmoniously.

“In the Southwest, Muslims and Christians are brothers, we do things together. There is no house around here that do not contain Muslims and Christians and they do things together”.

” In my own case my grandfather had five children, three are Muslims and two are christians and they do things together”.

Aladesawe who commiserated with the priests and members of the church prayed for the dead and those injured in the incident.

He commended the Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi samuel, SAN, for his efforts at ensuring there is peace in the state.

He however called on the federal government to address the security challenges in the country.

” Federal Government must do something quickly. Security is in mess in this country. Nobody is safe, even the president is not safe.

He however assured that religious leaders will continue to pray for peace to reign in the country.

The Chief Imam who announced a financial assistance of N500, 000.00 (five hundred thousand naira) by the Owo Muslim Community to the church and victims of the killing later visited the Federal Medical Centre Owo and the St Louis Hospital also in Owo to pray for the injured victims.

He later visited the Olowo of Owo to commiserate with him.
