Two poultry attendants, Suraju Yekini, 33, and Lateef Ajetomobi, 43, have been arraigned by the police in Osun state for allegedly stealing 2,514 chickens.
The accused persons and others at large were said to have committed the offence between May 2018 and August 2018, at Olu farm limited, Osogbo where they work.
The offence was said to contravene the provisions of sections 516, 427, 383(1) punishable under section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34, volume 11, Laws of Osun, 2003.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Joshua Oladoye, told the court that the 2,514 stolen chickens valued at N3 million, belonged to one Akosu Samuel.
The accused persons were charged with three counts of theft, conspiracy and deceit.
They pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
The defence counsel, Mr Emmanuel Adebisi , prayed the court to grant his clients bail in most liberal terms.
The Magistrate, Mrs Aishat Olayemi, granted the accused persons bail in the sum of N500,000 each and one surety each in like sum.
Olayemi stated that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction with evidence of tax payments.
She adjourned the case till March 11, 2019 for hearing.
