The Ondo Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps has revealed that a total of 205 persons were injured in 90 crashes that occurred within three months across the State.
The corps also disclosed that the crashes killed 41 people, while 365 persons were involved between April and June in the second quarter of the year 2024.
The State Sector Commander, Mr. Ezekiel SonAllah, made this known to The Hope Metro, over the weekend in Akure, the state capital.
According to him, in the past three months, numerous traffic offenders were also arrested.
He noted that the corps has not relented in its efforts to reduce crashes on the highways and within the state.
He said,“RS 11.2 that occurred in the state involved a total of 356 vehicles and 41 people were killed.”
SonAllah called on the public to obey the traffic system.
“I wish to call on the general motoring public to obey road traffic rules and regulations in order to avoid road traffic crashes, particularly during the rainy season and beyond.
“In this regard, there is a need for proper vehicle maintenance and standard tyres are to be used always.
“Road safety is everyone’s business. Let us come together and make our roads safe as life has no duplicate and it cannot be photocopied nor stored,” he advised.
He added that during the period under review, available statistics showed that both males and females were involved in crashes across the state, saying that the most prevalent causes of the crashes were speed limit violations, dangerous driving, and lack of concentration.
