By Adeboye Ado
As the festive season draws near, children and youths have been advised to refrain from using fireworks, commonly referred to as bangers and knockouts.
A community leader from Olokun Agbaluku, Arigidi Akoko, Chief Tayo Origbemisoye, issued this caution while addressing youths in the area.
Emphasising the need for responsible celebrations, Origbemisoye reminded the community that the law banning the indiscriminate use of fireworks remains in effect.
He highlighted the security risks associated with such activities, noting that the sounds of fireworks could be mistaken for gunshots, potentially inciting unnecessary panic.
He also appealed to parents and guardians to discourage their wards from engaging in activities that could result in legal consequences during the festive period.
Origbemisoye further called on security agencies to intensify efforts to curb criminal activities during the season.
In response, Prince Dayo Saba, a youth leader in the community, pledged to monitor the conduct of youths before, during, and after the yuletide to ensure peace and adherence to the law.
