In the wake of the recent unfortunate incident in Ayeka-Igodan, which raised concerns over student safety, the Chairman of Okitipupa Local Government, Andrew Ogunsakin, has assured students and residents that normalcy has returned.

He further disclosed that the affected communities are now safe.

The Chairman made this assurance during a crucial meeting with the leadership of the Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH) Students’ Union.

According to him, “This meeting was convened to address fears and concerns about the resumption of academic activities following the recent killing, which sparked anxiety among students and parents.”

“I can confirm that the suspect involved in the incident has been arrested and is currently in custody.”

He emphasised that the full weight of the law will be brought to bear, and justice will be served without delay.

“I want to reassure every OAUSTECH student, their parents, and the entire university community that Ayeka-Igodan is safe. There is calm in the area, and all necessary security measures have been put in place.

“We will not rest until the peace and safety of our students are guaranteed,” the Chairman stated.

He also reiterated his administration’s commitment to the welfare of students, pledging to allocate all necessary resources to ensure their safety and well-being.

The Chairman expressed gratitude to the students’ leadership for their maturity and collaboration during this challenging period and urged students to resume their academic activities without fear.
