Badminton Championship: Tiamiyu, Oyedepo, Ologbosere eye podium finish

The trio of Salawat Tiamiyu, Damilola Oyedepo and Timilehin Ologbosere are set to do Ondo State proud at the Lagos International Classics Badminton Championship.

Ondo State Badminton players will feature in female singles, Male singles, doubles and mix doubles at the open  championship scheduled for Teslim Balogun stadium ,Surulere Lagos, Nigeria between August 28 to September 4.

Salawat Tiamiyu who spoke on behalf of other players in Akure, disclosed that they have been training hard ahead of the championship, saying their target is the podium finish.

She added that they are ready to go all out against any opponent in the championship, adding that there won’t be respect for any senior player inside the court in the championship.

She added that, with God on their side, fans should expect a great outing from them.

According to her, “we just came back from Keffi Club open championship, Nasarawa state where we lost to senior national players in the quarterfinals.

“We would have progressed beyond that quarter finals if our coach had been with us, we played and coached ourselves in the championship.

“We are going to Lagos with our coach in this championship and we want to use International Classics Badminton Championship to compensate our fans, coach and the entire Ondo State people.

We are going to put in our best in ensuring that we do the state proud.”
