Bayelsa Queens’ triumph: Gbenvico Academy boss hails Kehinde Aganmuyi

The proprietor of Gbenvico Queens Academy, Gbenga Victor Okunnuwa, has congratulated Kehinde Aganmuyi on her emergence as a champion of the 2025 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) with Bayelsa Queens.

Okunnuwa, in a chat with Sporting Hope, said Kehinde Aganmuyi was one of the pioneer players of his academy and the first captain of the team.

He mentioned other female players from the academy to include Ireti Eretan, Taiwo Aganmuyi, and others who are currently doing well with Edo Queens and Rivers Angels respectively.

“I urge her and other players to remain focused and build on their current achievements,” he added.

“These girls won lots of laurels at the grassroots level before graduating to become professional players.”

Aganmuyi graduated from the academy and joined Rising Queens of Akure, got promoted to Sunshine Queens, had a brief stint with Royal Queens in Warri before rejoining Sunshine Queens.

She was vice captain of Sunshine Queens before she joined Bayelsa Queens last season.

Okunnuwa recounted how he suffered, was humiliated, and even arrested because of Kehinde and her twin sister, Taiwo Aganmuyi.

“Despite all the humiliation I faced, I believed they would make me proud.

“Thank God, today she is a league winner.”

“With all the challenges we faced together, they still look back and tell me, ‘Okunnuwa, Iya yi ni jere gbe,’ meaning ‘You won’t suffer in vain.'”

“Today, I am celebrating my efforts, and it gives me more confidence to do even more in talent discovery.”

“I congratulate Kehinde Aganmuyi on behalf of Gbenvico Football Academy and the entire Ilaje Local Government Area.”
