Be focused, students charged

The newly admitted students of Eji Oba High School, Oba Ile, have been admonished to be focused, disciplined and be dilligent in the years of studies in the school for them to achieve great height in life.
The school Principal, Dr Toyin Olobayo while welcoming the new students during their ‘Walk in Ceremony’, said the event was to acclimatize the students with the school environment.
“This event is to acclimatize our JSS1 students that were admitted into the school at the beginning of the session with the school environment. This will expose to the library and its importance, the laboratory and its uses ,home economics department and with this, they will also know the key officers in the school”, he said.
The week long programme which was rounded off with a match past round the town of Oba ile was witnessed by the students and their teachers who sang praises to God for witnessing the day.
Olobayo also called on the students to be wary of bad friends as this could make or mar their future,saying bad company always corrupts good manner.
He said they can only achieve the reason they are in school by being studious and focused noting that had started well.
According to him, they will make it in life if they know what they are doing and urged them to ensure that they have all it takes to learn.
Olobayo said some of their mates are now doing the school proud as they are representing the school in competitions outside the local government.
He said it is their right to be taught and taught well, and charged them to report any teacher who is not teaching them.
Speaking also, one of the vice principals, Mrs Victoria Adebayo called on the parents who were at the event to take the issue of their children and ward seriously as they are their future.
She advised them to make sure they buy their text and note books, especially English and Mathematics, adding that they should also ensure that their children dress well and eat well before coming to school.
Adebayo said parents should also find time to come to school to know about the welfare of their children and wards.
Some of the students who spoke with The Hope said they are now acquainted with the environment and expressed their joy for being admitted into the school.
