Be good ambassadors, Idanre LG councillors urged

Councilors in Idanre Local Government have been charged to be good ambassadors of their people and communities.

The chairman of the council, Mr. Smart Adeuyi Omotadowa, gave the charge while inaugurating the newly elected councillors during the week.

At the well-attended inauguration ceremony  held at the Local Government Secretariat in Owena, Omotadowa urged the councillors to engage in meaningful and beneficial legislation that would position Idanre Local Government as a model for others in Ondo State.

He emphasized the need for a mutual and productive relationship between the councilors and his office, stating that such collaboration would accelerate the development of Idanre Local Government Area.

The council chairman commended the Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency, Hon. Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for fulfilling his promise to democratize the local government system by conducting elections and swearing-in newly elected officials.

He assured the people that he would do everything possible to justify the confidence they had placed in him during the election held earlier in the year. He also assured them that they would enjoy the dividends of democracy. Additionally, he urged the councilors to uphold their integrity and protect their reputation.

“We are indeed happy that there was no violence whatsoever during or after the election. Much gratitude goes to the Executive Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for religiously fulfilling his promise to democratize the local government system through the conduct and swearing-in of elected council chairmen in the state on Monday, February 17, 2025,” Omotadowa stated.

He further congratulated and welcomed the councillors, calling for a strong and harmonious relationship between the executive and legislative arms. He emphasized that such cooperation would enable them to implement meaningful developmental projects that would deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.
