Be more proactive, ODHA charges OSOPADEC

Ondo State House of Assembly has charged the State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC) to ensure its relationship with the Assembly is more cordial to enhance socio-economic development and further improve the standard of the mandate areas.
The House Committee on OSOPADEC led by its Chairman, Primate Oluwatoyin Allen gave the charge during an oversight visit to the Commission in Akure.
According to the Lawmakers, it is the primary duty of the house to ensure budget approved are well utilized by the MDAs to foster progress and development.
The Committee tasked the Commission on the issue of bursaries to students, the supplementary budget, and the 2024 budget.
They advised the commission to be more proactive in the discharge of its duties and tasked the Chairman to ensure regular engagement with the management and members of Staff of the commission to achieve more progress.
They said all hands must be on deck for the expectations of the people in the catchment areas to be met.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Commission, Sam Erejuwa said that the commission is doing its best to make life more meaningful for the people of the mandate areas.
He informed that the commission has recently cleared the bursary of the students in the coastal areas and emphasised that there is no division in OSOPADEC.
The Chairman pledged that the commission will always be open to scrutiny, ensure transparency and work towards achieving its mandate.
