BECE result ‘ll be released before Sept- Asaniyan

Permanent Secretary, Ondo State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Rev Akin Asaniyan has  assured that the results of  the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and Joint Promotion Examination (SSS2)will be released before resumption in September.

Asaniyan disclosed this while monitoring the last paper for SSS2 on Saturday in Akure, the State capital.

He said in the past,  it used to be released around October or November,  but  since the administration of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, it has been released on time, adding that this years’ result will be released on time and the students  will resume at the appropriate time.

Asaniyan who apologized for any hiccups, disappointment and inconveniences that must have  been caused  parents, teachers and students in the course of the examination, said it was to prevent leakages of questions and also for security purpose.

“We tender our apology with humility and we promised that it will not happen again  and we will do what will make them convenient and comfortable.

” We are trying to prevent leakages of questions by not   printing them here and also for security purpose from past experience, we decided not to move at night to prevent any loss of lives with the current situation in the country,” he said.

He therefore assured parents, teachers and students that the Ministry  has put  machineries in place to alleviate all the stress they went through.

In an interview with students on their opinion about the examination, a student of Fiwasaye Girls Grammar School, Akure, Oluwaseun Blessing who described the examination as very interesting as that was the first external examination in the school, added  that some of the questions really brushed her knowledge and it has helped her to prepare more.

Also, Yusuf  Mariam said there were challenges of questions coming late and also postponement of subjects which really destabilized  some students

She said though  it  only happened once, but all in all, she said, the examination was interesting as it opened her to study more.

Schools visited are, Ijapo High School, St Peters Unity Secondary School, all in Akure metropolis.
