Ondo State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has warned schools in the state against indulging in examination malpractices as students in Junior Secondary School 3 continue to write the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) across the state.

The exams, which commenced July 14, will end on the 21st of this month.

The Ministry visited schools across the 18 local government areas of the state to monitor the examination.

Some of the schools visited include Aquinas College, Akure Muslim College, St. Peter’s Unity Secondary School and Oyemekun Grammar School.

In the schools visited, the students were in exam halls and classrooms allotted for the exams under strict supervision of their invigilators.

The sitting arrangement was spacious as students were not allowed to seat close to each other to give no room for any form of communication.

Speaking after the monitoring exercise, the State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Pastor Olufemi Agagu submitted that the Ministry has zero tolerance for malpractices.

Agagu noted that the Ministry had done everything necessary to ensure the examination went smoothly.

“The schools know us that we have zero tolerance for cheating. From the places we have visited, you can see the students are well spaced from one another.

“The exam is running very well. The preparation for it has been thorough. You can see that everything is working fine. We prepared for it. I am satisfied.

He said monitoring of the exam would continue across the LGAs in the state till the end of the examination.
