BEMORE: Imo people hail Mrs Akeredolu

The people of Imo State, South East Nigeria, have applauded the wife of Ondo State Governor, Chief Mrs. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, for initiating the BEMORE Summer Boot Camp for Girls in Imo State.

The commendation came during the opening ceremony of the 2018 BEMORE SUMMER BOOT CAMP FOR GIRLS NAIJA, Imo state edition, held at Igolo Abiam place, 77 Wetheral road, Owerri.

The BEMORE Summer Boot Camp for Girls Naija is a free/highly subsidized training for young girls with the aim of making them attain their maximum potentials.

The training package includes, but not limited to, Information and Communication Technology, Solar Technology, skills acquisition such as leadership, bead making, soap making, amongst others.

The chairman of the occasion, who is also the outgoing Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede Owerri, Dr. Mrs C.U Njoku, described Mrs. Akeredolu as a role model and pacesetter who has done so much within and outside Ondo in a very short space of time.

Dr Njoku encouraged the trainees, numbering about 50, to take the training very seriously and make good use of the rare opportunity.

In his goodwill message, the Chief Executive Officer of Oche Microfinance Bank, Rogers Austin Nwoke, extolled Mrs. Akeredolu for extending this kind gesture to Imo people through her private foundation and encouraged her to keep on the good work.

Mr Nwoke, who spoke through Emeka Nwanga said, “Mrs Akeredolu is a woman that everyone on earth should have. What is important in this country is to add value to others, and this is what the first lady is doing. If all the first ladies were like this, our country Nigeria, would be a better place. Your Excellency, the journey has just started; you are going miles and the Lord will continually be with you. God bless you.”

The Anglican Bishop of Egbu Diocese, the Rt. Revd. Geoffrey E. Okoroafor, who was a special guest of honour at the occasion, praised Mrs Akeredolu for what he called remarkable exploits.

In his words, he said, “Between last year and now, barely two years in office, you have done more than most people who have stayed eight years in office. It is not an overstatement; the records are there. If in less than two years we have this much, Betty, the sky is your limit. The God that has called you and your husband to serve in Ondo state, and in Imo state by extension, knows where He is taking you to and nothing will stop that move.”

Chisom Sylvia Amagwonwa and Mary Anosike two of the participants in the previous edition of the programme thanked Ondo First Lady for the privilege of being part of the training which according to them made remarkable impact in their lives and pledged not to let her down.

Highlight of the occasion was the tour of the facility at the venue.

The occasion was also graced by HRM Eze lucky Ajoku, Clergy Men and parents of the trainees.
