Barely two weeks after some unknown gunmen allegedly abducted the Chief Security Officer (CSO) attached to Owena River Basin Development Authority, in Akure, The Ondo State Police Command has said efforts to trace the man had remained a mirage.
The victim, who was simply identified as Mr Ugwu Ejionu was said to be on duty at the headquarters of the office at Alagbaka in Akure, a couple of weeks ago, when two men entered his office in broad day light and allegedly whisked him away into a waiting Hummer bus parked outside his office.
When contacted, the Officer-in -charge of the Special Anti-Kidnapping Sqard, CSP Afolanyan Oladapo, told The Hope Metro that the victim’s phone had been switched on and off, lamenting that his family was not helping the police in their investigation.
He explained, “It has been difficult to conclude that the incident was a kidnap case because the two men came into the office of the victim and whisked him into their waiting hummer bus, parked in front of the victim’s office and headed to an unknown destination.
He, however, said the police will continue in its investigation towards unraveling the circumstances surrounding his abduction.
It would be recalled that the victim was reportedly kidnapped in his office at Alagbaka, in Akure, by yet-to-be arrested hoodlums, while all efforts to reach him through his mobile phones had remained unsuccessful.
As at the time of filing this report, it was reliably gathered that the alleged abductors were yet to reach out to family members of the victim in terms of ransom.
