as NDLEA recovers 312 kilograms of skunk in Ondo

A 52-year old businessman, Ejiofor Godwin Emeka, has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, after excreting a total of 127 wraps of cocaine concealed in his private part and stomach.

This was disclosed on Sunday, October 12, 2025, by Femi Babafemi, Director of Media and Advocacy at NDLEA Headquarters, Abuja

According to the agency, Ejiofor, who operates boutiques in Lagos and Onitsha, Anambra State, was apprehended upon his arrival from Bangkok, Thailand, via Ethiopian Airlines flight ET 941 on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, following credible intelligence. A body scan confirmed he had ingested illicit drugs and concealed some in his private part.

NDLEA said 58 wraps of cocaine were first recovered from his pants before he was placed under excretion observation, during which he excreted 69 additional wraps in seven rounds, bringing the total to 127 wraps weighing 1.388 kilograms.

Meanwhile, NDLEA operatives also intercepted three consignments of illicit drugs bound for the United Kingdom at a courier company in Lagos between Thursday, October 9, and Friday, October 10. The seizures included 1.74 kilograms of methamphetamine hidden in glass ceramics, 114 grams and 168 grams of pentazocine and tramadol injections, and 48 grams of tramadol capsules concealed in Vitamin C containers.

Other thwarted attempts involved 2.6 kilograms of skunk and 422 grams of tapentadol 250mg concealed in black soap tablets heading to Turkey, 169 grams of cocaine hidden in handbags bound for Australia, and 568 grams of “loud,” a strong strain of cannabis, concealed in herbal containers destined for the United Arab Emirates.

At the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, 27,510 pills of Rohypnol concealed in alcoholic drink sachets en route to South Africa were intercepted.

NDLEA operatives arrested a freight agent and a cab driver linked to the shipment and later apprehended the mastermind, 46-year old Samuel Omoruyi (alias Yellow), at Oyingbo Market on October 2.

On the same day, Italy-based businessman Enehizena Augustine Uyimwen was arrested for attempting to export 3,700 pills of tramadol 225mg and 2,600 tablets of tapentadol 200mg hidden in food items to Italy. He claimed he was trafficking the drugs for another person for a fee of €945.

Similarly, in Ondo State, 312 kilograms of skunk were recovered from a bush at Ologede camp, Ogbese, while 141.8 kilograms were intercepted from two  suspects—Francis John, 39, and Adeyemi Taiwo, 46—along the Benin-Lagos expressway.

In Edo State, a raid on the home of one Emmanuel Sunday, 33, at Ugbekpe Ekperi in Etsako Central LGA led to the recovery of 47 kilograms of skunk. In Osun State, two suspects, Nureni Ayobami Eleweodo, 48, and Oladejo Taiwo, 52, were arrested at Omifufun village, Ife South LGA, with 635 kilograms of skunk in their vehicle, while two others, Timothy Omiwole, 41 and Isaac Achiatan, 36, were caught with 100 kilograms of the same substance.

In Rivers State, two suspects, Okoro Julius, 20, and Onyebuchi Nwibo, 25, were arrested over the seizure of 8.5 kilograms of skunk, while in Katsina, 46-year old Sulaiman Kalalu was nabbed with 29.5 kilograms of the substance at Bayan Asiti, Jibia town.

Similarly, NDLEA officers in Niger State arrested Yisa Daniel, 29, at New Bussa with 22,000 capsules of tramadol, 800 ampoules of pentazocine injection, and 150,000 pills of Exol-5.

In Kaduna, operatives arrested 27-year old Rufai Ahmed, also known as Farin Malam, at the Abuja-Kaduna toll gate with 150,000 pills of Exol-5 being transported from Lagos to Katsina
