Bizman in court over fraud

A 69-year-old, Francis Akomolafe, has been arraigned before an Akure Magistrates’ Court, for alleged fraud .

The defendant, who is a business man was charged to court on two counts bothering on fraud.

According to the prosecutor, Inspector Augustine Omhenimhen, the defendant committed the offence sometimes between 2016 and April 16, 2024, at Orita- Obele Estate, Akure.

Augustine said the defendant fraudulently obtained the sum of N710,000, property of one Bamidele Omolabake, under false pretense to purchase a plot of land for Oluwadare Faith, but converted the money his own use.

The offence contravenes Sections 383, 390(9), 418 and 419 of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the offences.

His counsel, Kehinde Osadugba, prayed the court to grant his client bail in the most liberal terms.

Magistrate O.T. Lebi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N700,000 and adjourned the case till July 23, 2024, for ruling on the bail application.

Lebi, however, ordered the remand of the defendant in the police custody.
