Black Saturday: Lone accident claims 5 lives along Akure/Ore highway

The Ondo state police command has said five persons have lost their lives, while seven sustained varying degrees of injuries in a lone accident along Akure/Ore/Lagos expressway today around Akinfosile area in Ondo state.

According to a statement released by Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, Police Public Relations Officer, Ondo State Command, the accident occurred at about 04:30pm this evening around Akinfosile area of the state.

She said a Toyota Hiace Bus with Reg. No FKG 405 FX from Akure enroute Lagos, summersault and veered into the bush.

The Police spokesperson said that men of the State Command have moved the injured victims to the nearest hospital at ( Grace of God Hospital), while bodies of the deceased have been moved to the mortuary of the same hospital.

She noted that investigation is ongoing to unravel the cause of the accident, while effort is on to contact families of the passengers involved in the accident.

The Command advised members of the public to reach out to their relatives who left for Lagos from Akure this morning to check on them to ascertain their status and those in doubt of the whereabouts of their families should reach out to the police at Igbotako Division through this phone no (07033285708) for more information.
