Black Sunday in Ore, 11 burnt to death in auto crash

No fewer than eleven persons whose identities were yet to be ascertained were burnt to death in a motor accident that occurred on Sunday at Soka Bridge in Ore, the headquarters of Odigbo local government area.

The accident involved a trailer and a Marcopollo Bus

Eyewitnesses told our correspondent that the accident was caused by wrong driving on the part of the trailer.

“The driver of the trailer drove through one way and in the process collided with the Marcopollo bus which was coming from Benin road.

The trailer caught fire in the process.

The Federal Road Safety Corps, Unit Commander in Ore, Mr Sikiru Alonge confirmed the news to our correspondent via phone call.

He said the incident had caused traffic congestion along the route while all the eleven persons were burnt beyond recognition

“The fire has been extinguished, and the traffic is being controlled on the Benin/Lagos Lane.

“Efforts are on top gear with other security agencies to remove crashed vehicles from the road,” Alonge said

He, urged motorists to always obey all traffic rules to avert further tragedy.

Also same day, ten persons escaped death at the early hours of Sunday morning accident which occurred on Ore Toll gate along the same Benin-Ore expressway in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The lone accident which involved a Toyota Hiace with number plate FUG 17 XY, was caused by overspeeding which led to loss of control.

Alonge said out of the ten victims, seven persons who were seriously injured in the accident have been taken to the nearest hospital for treatment

He, therefore, cautioned motorists against over-speeding, urging them to always exercise patience on the highway and as well obey all traffic rules and regulations in order to have safe trips.
