In a move aimed at enhancing the security of lives and property in Ondo State, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has commissioned a new security control post in the Oke Ase quarters of Oke Irun, located in Akoko North West Local Government area of the state.
The governor informed residents that his administration places high priority on security and has graciously approved the establishment of the control post to strengthen synergy among all security agencies operating in the local government.
Represented by the Commander of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, the governor emphasised the government’s commitment to securing every part of the state.
“The Ondo State Government is committed to ensuring security in Irun Akoko and other parts of the state,” he assured.
He further assured residents that the Amotekun headquarters would provide continuous support for the new security post and charged Amotekun officers to demonstrate fairness, diligence, and fearlessness in carrying out their duties.
“This control post must work in harmony with existing security agencies, and I urge all residents to cooperate fully with our officers to enhance the safety of lives and property in this community,” he added.
The Oniru of Irun, Oba Samuel Agboola, expressed profound gratitude and applauded the governor for establishing the security post in Irun.

“We truly appreciate this kind gesture. All sons and daughters of Irun commend the governor’s efforts. About a year ago, we faced serious threats from kidnappers.
“The quick response from Amotekun then gave us hope,” the monarch said.
The monarch noted that ongoing collaboration with security agencies would foster peace and called for monthly security meetings involving the DPO and the Civil Defence to sustain progress.
A member of the Ondo State House of Assembly who represents Akoko North West Constituency 2, Mr. Felix Afe, stressed the strategic importance of Irun as a border town to Ekiti State.
“Irun’s location makes it vulnerable to the movement of suspicious persons. The presence of Amotekun here will help reduce such threats.

“I urge residents to report any suspicious activities to the officers for prompt action,” he said.
He thanked the governor for approving the establishment of the Amotekun post, noting that it aligns with the administration’s broader security agenda.
“We are not unaware of the governor’s tireless efforts to combat crime, and we appreciate them. Our community is friendly, and we assure Amotekun of our full cooperation,” Afe concluded.
The Chairman of Akoko North West Local Government, Hon. John Esan, also expressed gratitude to the governor , describing Irun as a “gateway town” to Ekiti and acknowledging the security risks this poses.
“This control post will put our kingdom at the forefront of security enforcement.

“I thank our people, both at home and in the diaspora, who contributed to the realisation of this project,” Esan said.
He pledged the local government’s support for the initiative and called for continued collaboration between the government and the community to sustain peace and security in the region.
