Aspirants of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as well as elders and leaders of the party in Ondo state have agreed to work for the victory of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu ahead of the October 10, governorship election.
Speaking with journalists after a meeting of all former APC governorship aspirants, elders, leaders and other critical stakeholders within the party in Ondo state, Isaacs Kekemeke, one of the party’s aspirants at the July 20 primaries of the APC explained that they have all resolved to work for no other party than APC and its candidate than Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for the forthcoming governorship polls.
The meeting had in attendance, Chief Olusola Oke; deputy Leader of the Senate, Professor Ajayi Borofice; Segun Abraham, Chief Pius Akinyelure, Dr Paul Akintelure, chairman of the party in the state, Ade Adetimehin, and the deputy governor candidate of the party, lucky Aiyedatiwa among others.
Kekemeke, Secretary of the meeting said the meeting was a demonstration that they have returned from the battle field and have resolved to work together as one united, indivisible party in the state.
According to him, all have decided to sheathe their swords and bury all differences to ensure APC emerges victorious for good governance to continue to thrive in the state.
Kekemeke equally added that they have also resolved to work in unison for the party’s victory in the forthcoming August 22 local government poll in the state.
He noted that they would all support Governor Akeredolu and his running mate, Lucky Aiyedatiwa in the October poll for the success of the party.
“We have resolved that we have no other home or party than APC, and that we have no other candidate than governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for a second time in office. We have decided to sheath the swords, we have decided to bury all our differences. We have decided that our party is bigger than all of us.
“We have also applauded the Governor for his address to us today., wherein he titled the speech “A New Beginning”, and what we are going to see from today onward is a bigger party, a more united party, a greater party, a party that is ready and resolve to deliver more dividends of democracy to the people of this state.
“Henceforth cleavages are buried and put to rest. We are now one strong united party, and I’m sure you have seen the evidence of this”, he added.
He further revealed that former deputy Governor, Alhaji Ali Olanusi, the Minister for state, Niger Delta, Senator Alasoadura and Mrs Jumoke Anifowose sent their apologies.
Also, Sen. Borofice said they have all agreed that both the local government and governorship elections are won hands down by the APC, adding that there is no permanent enemy or friend in politics.
He added that all the party leaders would return to their local governments and work for the victory of the party in the coming polls.
In his response, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, said he was extremely happy about the outcome of the meeting, saying that God has intervened in the affairs of the party.
According to him, the development is a new beginning, just as he commended the efforts of the party leaders and other relevant stakeholders for the amicable resolution.
He added that APC is more entrenched and in the polity and politics of the state, just as he described the feat as unprecedented in the history of APC in the state.
The Governor expressed confidence that the party would triumph in the October governorship polls.
