The First Lady of Akwa Ibom State, Patience Umo Eno, has been confirmed dead following a brief illness.

In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Ini Ememobong, early on Friday, it was revealed that she passed away on Thursday in the presence of her family at a hospital.

“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of the Wife of the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Her Excellency, Pastor Mrs Patience Umo Eno, after a brief illness. She passed away peacefully at the hospital on 26th September 2024, with her family by her side,” the statement reads.

“The family submits to the will of the Almighty and requests the prayers and support of compassionate individuals during this challenging period. Further details will be provided as necessary. In the meantime, the family kindly asks for privacy as they mourn their beloved wife, mother, and grandmother.

“His Excellency, the Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, expresses his gratitude to all who have stood by the first family during this time of loss and assures the citizens that despite this significant personal tragedy, his dedication to the service of the state remains steadfast.”
