Breaking: FG Suspends Ruga
The Federal Government has bowed to public pressure mounted against the establishment of the RUGA establishments in the country.
It announced its suspension yesterday.
On Tuesday, nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka warned that the planned Ruga settlements would cause an explosion in the country.
Soyinka who spoke at the United nation’s solutions 17 SDG programme chided the federal government for proposing the idea.
Three governors are expected to brief the State House correspondents today (Wednesday) on the suspension of the controversial RUGA, our correspondent has learnt.
The governors are currently meeting with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Two of the governors expected to brief are Kayode Fayemi and Dave Umahi of Ekiti and Ebonyi States respectively.
Presidential sources said that the suspension of RUGA followed the outcry of Nigerians against the programme.
