Bricklayer remanded over theft

A bricklayer, Muideen Adekanmi, 25, has been remanded in prison by an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court  for allegedly stealing  a purse and a Techno phone.

Adekanmi was  alleged of stealing  the purse  containing  N22,000 and the phone worth N5,000 on May 19, 2019 at about 7:30 p.m, at Sabo area, Ile-Ife.

The Prosecutor, Inspector Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the accused person stole the items contrary to sections 383 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.

The accused person who  had  no lawyer, pleaded guilty to the one-count charge of stealing.

The Magistrate, Mrs Muhibah Olatunji, who  refused the defendant bail, ordered the remand of the accused person in Ile-Ife Prison, pending the presentation of facts of the case.

The case was adjourned till June 19 for mention.
