Brothers nabbed for allegedly attacking man with broken bottle

By Adeboye Ado

Two brothers, Emmanuel Elebusi, 22, and Isaiah Elebusi, 20, have been brought before an Iwaro-Oka Magistrate’s Court over alleged criminal insubordination.

The police arraigned the duo before Magistrate B. A. Ikusika, on a two-count charge of conspiracy and grievous harm.

According to the prosecution, the incident occurred on December 18, 2024, at about 11 p.m. on Ikumapayi Street, Oka Odo Quarters, Iwaro-Oka, Akoko, Ondo State.

Inspector Kehinde Emmanuel, the prosecutor, informed the court that the defendants used a broken bottle to pierce one Emmanuel Lawal’s left cheek, head, and hand, causing him grievous bodily harm.

The alleged offences contravene Sections 516(a) and 355 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Volume 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.

Inspector Kehinde requested an adjournment to allow time to study the case file and assemble witnesses for trial.

Defence counsel, Ikare Lawrence, did not oppose the prosecutor’s application but urged the court to grant the defendants bail in the most liberal terms.

Ruling on the matter, Magistrate Ikusika granted bail to the defendants and adjourned the case for a further report on the settlement, as both parties had initiated an amicable resolution.
