From Fisayo Akinduro, Osogbo

President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti- corruption crusade has been identified as the best means of repositioning the country for economic development.

The Executive Chairman, Centre for Anti Corruption and Open Leadership, Mr Debo Adeniran stated this in Osogbo at a capacity building workshop for anti corruption crusaders at the grassroots level.

It was a forum to discuss the implications of corruption on economic social and political development of the country.

The forum afforded activists opportunity to the educate people on the danger inherent in corruption and the best way to curb the menace.

Speaking on the theme: “Curbing Corruption in Nigeria Political Processes; Establishing a Grassroot Paradigm in Good Governance Accountability and Transparency” Adeniran charged Nigerians to always hold political leaders into account.

Adeniran also called on Nigerians to develop the right attitude towards the fight against corruption and see the fight as a collective responsibility.

He hinted that Buhari’s anti corruption fight has recorded significant achievements in the area of corruption, hence the need to sustain the tempo.

On his part, the Coordinator, Democracy Vanguard, Mr Adeola Sowetan who identified democracy as the best form of government that could fast track development hinged the nation’s woe to corruption.

Sowetan urged Nigerians to always ask questions on the management of their resources and put their leaders on their toes to forestall high rate of corruption in the country.

Speaking, the coordinator of Centre for Anti Corruption and Open Leadership in Osun state,Mr Rufus Oyatoro advocated stiff punishment for corrupt officials to stem the tide.

Oyatoro said the centre would continue to create awareness on the danger embedded in  corruption and its inherent effects on national growth.

Some participants at the workshop said the training would go a long way to enhance their knowledge on the best way to control corruption.
