The re-election of President, Muhammadu Buhari will lead to continuity of good governance that will lead Nigeria to the next level as enshrined in the slogan of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

President Buhari was declared  winner of the February 23 Presidential election early on Wednesday by the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof Mahmood Yakubu after defeating his closest rival, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

A cross section of the people who spoke with The Hope in Ikare, Akungba and Arigidi Akoko posited that the second term of the president will bring development and more dividends of democracy to the people.

Mr Yusuf Suleiman, a commercial driver expressed joy at the victory of the president, saying it will bring joy to the people.

According to him, people, especially commercial drivers have all reasons to thank God for Buhari’s victory.

He disclosed that he and majority of his colleagues voted for him (Buhari) because ever since he assumed power, petrol has never disappeared from the filling stations.

Yusuf stated that contrary to the fears and anxiety entertained during the festive periods before the president came to power, people no longer have to sleep in petrol stations to buy fuel, while the long queues that characterized the era were no longer there

He disclosed that the fear of many is that petrol may become scarce and costly since the PDP candidate said he will sell the nation’s petrol company, NNPC.

On her own, Mrs Bola Adekunle, a primary school teacher, said the people are happy with the president winning the election.

She thanked God for the emergence of the president and advised him to consider reviewing some of his economic policies which are really affecting the people.

A market woman, Mrs Victoria Aladejana who spoke with our reporter at Akungba Akoko was optimistic that President Buhari will do more this time around.

Mrs Aladejana however asked Nigerians to continue to pray for the president for God’s mercy and favour to direct his administration.
