Burglary: Police arraign teenager in Ekiti

The police at the Ekiti state command, on Tuesday arraigned a 19-year-old boy, Adewumi Temitope, at an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged break-in shop and stealing.
The defendant an apprentice and residents of Ajilosun area of Ado-Ekiti, capital of Ekiti state is standing trial on a two-count of burglary and stealing.
The police prosecutor, Insp.Oriyomi Akinwale, told the court that the defendant committed the offence at about 02:00 p.m behind Fabian Hotel in Ado-Ekiti.
He alleged that the defendant broke and entered the shop of one Mrs Oluwadare Temitope and stole an Infinix phone valued at N20,000.
Akinwale also alleged that the defendant between the hour of 1:00 a.m to 04:00 a.m entered the house and premises of the following complaints,torn their windows net and stole their properties.
The following items stolen are; an Itel phone valued at N28,000 belonging to Boboye Olanrewaju, an Infinix hot 7 valued at N40,000 belonging to Adeojo Busayo and a bag that contain N68,000 belonging to Adeleye Tope.
He noted that the offences contravened Section 390 and 411(2) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
The prosecutor asked the court for a short adjournment to enable him to study the case file and present his witnesses.
The defendant who pleaded not guilty to the charges. But his counsel, Mr Gbenga Ariyibi, urged the court to grant him bail in most libral term with a promise that he would not jump bail.
After listening to the arguments of both the prosecutor and the counsel, the presiding Magistrate, Mrs Taiwo Ajibade, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She thereby adjourned the case until July 19 for hearing.
