Burnt Statistician General’s office to wear new look

Following the fire outbreak that hit the office of the Statistician General, Ondo State Bureau of Statistics, Mr Dayo Aregbesola, steps are being taken towards early renovation.

Statistician General, Mr Dayo Aregbesola in a chat with The Hope said the Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Pastor Emmanuel Igbasan who was out of town during the inferno had visited the burnt office after taking full reports of the incident.

“Director, Finance and Admin., General Administration Department, Governor’s Office, Mr Lawrence Akintunde was also on hand to access the situation.

A formal letter was said to have been sent to the newly inaugurated Head of Service, Mr Dare Aragbaye to acquaint him of the situation while the Office of the Chief of Staff to Mr Governor was equally notified. ” He said

Aregbesola said officials of the Ministry of Lands and Housing had visited the office for an on the spot assessment with a view to estimating the probable cost of the damage and to take positive steps on how best to put the office back in shape.

Meanwhile, a makeshift office is being arranged for the day to day running of the Statistician General’s activities.

The Statistician General who was full of appreciation to the Permanent Secretary, Economic Planning and Budget, Mr. Bunmi Alade who was equally on hand to put out the fire said he had received a call  from one of the security personnels indicating that she noticed the thick smoke oozing out through the windows of his office when electricity was restored to the Secretariat Complex around 6.15am on Saturday 29th, June 2019 which he suggested must have been occasioned by a power upsurge which has been a regular occurrence in the complex.
