Campaign Flag-off: Osinbajo, APC leaders storm Akure

Eminent politicians in the country and big wigs in the ruling All progressives Congress, APC, will today storm Akure, the Ondo State capital to flag off the reelection campaign of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
Already, the capital city is in high spirit expecting the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, the National Leader of the All Progressive Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, members of the Central Working Committee of the party and other personalities .
Others include Yobe State Governor, who doubles as National Caretaker Chairman of APC, Mai Mala Buni , Lagos State Governor and National Campaign Council, APC, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, Chairman of Governors’ Forum, Plateau State Governor, Solomon Lalong, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, Kogi State Governor, Yahya Bello among others.
Also expected at the flag-off are Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Tayo Alasoadura, Deputy Senate Leader, Senator Ajayi Boroffice and members of the National Assembly from Ondo State.
The event will hold at the Akure Sports Complex beginning from 10am
Party sources told our correspondent that members have been strategizing and mobilising the people and party supporters ahead of the occasion.
Also, members and officials of the party were seen yesterday putting touches to arrangements to make the flag off hitch free and memorable while some were seen using megaphones to sensitise and mobilise the people for the event.
Our reporters who went round the state capital observed that the party jubilant mobilisers wore campaign t-shirts and caps, dancing to the various rhythms of a musical group in branded vehicles of Akeredolu/Aiyedatiwa campaign team.
The vehicles were bedecked with posters of the campaign team as it moved round the state capital.
The state sports complex, which is the venue of the rally, has witnessed transformation befitting the big event.
The street that lead to the complex is also adorn with colourful campaign posters and signage of the governor and his running mate, Lucky Ayedatiwa in the APC colour and logo.
Security agents were also on standby, keeping vigil to forestall security threat and ensure the rally is smooth and devoid of unforeseen security breach.
Speaking on the campaign flag-off yesterday, the state Chairman of the APC, Ade Adetimehin, said that the stage is set and arrangements have been concluded to receive the national leaders of the party in the state.
According to him, the people of the state and party supporters across the state would troop out to welcome the APC national leaders who will be coming from all over the country.
Governor Akeredolu and APC governorship candidate in the October 10, 2020 election won the party governorship ticket in the July 20 primary for his second term re-election.
Immediately after the primary, Governor Akeredolu began the reconciliatory process with a view to reconciling all aggrieved co-contestants and to unite them in other to have a solid base.
This was apart from the Committee set up by the national leadership of the APC, all in a bid to ensure the party goes to the polls as a united and big party.
The reconciliatory efforts have recorded huge success as all the leading co-aspirants agreed to sheath their swords and work for the victory of the APC and its candidate, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
To them, APC belongs to them and all hands must be on deck to ensure the party remains in governance of the state.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday presented the APC flag to Governor Akeredolu. The presentation was for Akeredolu’s flag-off of campaign for his re-election Buhari yesterday presented APC party flag to the Governor.
Present at the presentation were Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong; Chairman APC Caretaker/Special Convention Committee and Governor of Yobe State Mai Mala Buni; Chairman, National Campaign Council and Lagos State Governor, BabaJide Sanwo-Olu among other leaders.
