CAN advises leaders against amassing wealth

Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, (CAN), South West chapter,  Rev’d Fr. Raphael Osegboun has tasked Christian leaders to go back to the origin of the church instead of amassing wealth for themselves.

According to him, Christ was rich but became poor for the sake of humanity.

The Chairman made the declaration at the two day Zonal meeting of the association held in Akure, Ondo State.

He said the charity of the body of Christ as exhibited by the apostles made the community of believers in the early church more inspiring in their unity and commitment to their fellow ones.

Fr. Osegboun admonished the congregation to learn to contribute to the church in her mission of providing for the less privileged around “us that needed our assistance.”

He commended the cordial relationship between the Ondo State government and the Christian community most especially, in releasing some schools to its original owners.

The Chairman also applauded the state government in it’s infrastructural development and security of the people.

In his welcome address, the Ondo State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Very Rev’d Fr. Anselm Ologunwa expressed worry over the persistent warfare going on in the church today.

He said when the pulpit is silent, there will be decay, death and destitution on every side of the church.

Fr. Ologunwa reminded the congregation that the pulpit is the heart and life blood of the church, sacred and must not be handled with levity.

The chairman, who tasked the Christian community not to lose hope in the country Nigeria with what they are experiencing today, reassured them that their prayers is still the potent instrument that has held the people together as a nation till today.
