A 45-year-old car dealer, Uloko Onoja, who allegedly obtained N3 million under false pretences, has been brought before an Akure Magistrate Court.
The prosecutor, Inspector Simon Wada, told the court that the offences were committed sometime in November 2023 at about 12:00 pm at Akure in the Akure Magisterial District.
Wada said that the complainant, Mr. Micheal Anthony, gave the defendant, who resides in Lagos, N3.1 million to help him purchase a Toyota Siena car, 2001 model.
The prosecutor also alleged that the defendant, however, failed to purchase the car and he did not return the money to the complainant, but converted the money to his use.

The offences contravened Sections 418 and 419 of the Criminal Laws of Ondo State, 2006. But the defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The magistrates, Damilola Sekoni granted the defendant bail in the sum of N2,000,000 with two sureties in like sum, and adjourned the case till March 15, for mention.
