Car washers in court over N1.5m theft

Three employees at a car wash have been arraigned before an Akure Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing N1.5m car washing machine.

The defendants; Adebusoye Abiodun,39, Bayo Akinrinlola,27, and Ayodeji Kalesanmi,33, committed the offence on November 26, 2022 around 2am at Samchase Quary constain area, Ore, Ondo State.

The police prosecutor, Sulaiman Adebayo told the court that the defendants stole Kingston car wash machine belonging to Samchase Quary company.

He said the car washing machine is valued at N1,500,000, property of Samchase Quary company Ore.

The offences committed is contrary to section 383 and punishable under Sections 516 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap, 37. Volume 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.

The employees who are facing a two-count charge pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against them.

Counsel to the defendants, G.O Bernard prayed the court to admit his clients to bail in most liberal terms, stating that they will provide reliable sureties

In her ruling, Magistrate Temitayo Owolabi granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 each with one surety each in like sum.
