A hairstylist, Caroline Ejibunu, also known as Carolaura, recently attempted a 24-hour “hair-a-thon” in a bid to secure a Guinness World Record for the longest hairstyling marathon by an individual.
At the venue, City Walk Hotel in Ondo State, she created 201 hairstyles.
Speaking with journalists about the attempt, she said, “My passion and creativity in hair-making have always driven me to push boundaries and explore new horizons in the beauty industry. Growing up, I watched my mother skillfully style hair, and this inspired me to fall in love with the art of hairstyling. Over the years, I’ve cultivated a deep connection to my craft, and this record-breaking attempt is my way of showcasing the limitless potential of hairstyling. It’s not just about setting a record; it’s about challenging myself to achieve what many may see as impossible and redefining the artistry and creativity of hair design.”
When asked how she was able to sponsor the attempt, Ejibunu said, “Most of the resources came from my personal savings, which made the effort all the more personal and meaningful for me. My family members were helpful as well. I am also deeply grateful to the incredible dignitaries of Ondo Kingdom for their unwavering support. Their encouragement, both during and after the event, was invaluable and made the entire process smoother.”
Speaking about the challenges she faced during the feat, she said, “Despite the glamour, the journey was not without challenges. The primary challenge was the anxiety I felt before and during the event. It was a mix of excitement and nervousness, but once things got underway, my focus and determination took over.”
She added that she is currently awaiting official confirmation from Guinness World Records, as she had registered the attempt with them.
