Cattle dealers President lauds Akeredolu over peace

National President of the Amalgamated Union of Foodstuffs and Cattle Dealers of Nigeria, Dr Mohammed Tahir, has commended the Akeredolu-led administration for ensuring that peace reigns in the state.

He declared this yesterday when he led national executive members of the association on a courtesy visit to the Commander of Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye.

He said the association was not happy with the way some of his people were infiltrating the southwest.

Tahir said the association is happy with the way Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu in handling insecurity in the state, adding that he has warned his members to stop illegal loading of miscreants to the south.

He decried the situation where human beings will be hiding under the truck packed full of cows.

“We appreciate Akeredolu’s achievements and continued efforts on security matters in Ondo state. We are not happy with all our people that come here illegally. We need to have relationship with your team on how to tackle crime and criminality because your strides has made Ondo state number one crime-free state.

“We also appreciate your efforts in ensuring safety and how you have been handling our people who came in illegally into the state and how you facilitate their return to Kano state,

“We Cattle Rearers Association, our official hiring of trucks is N600,000, which should carry about 35 cows. We don’t know the reasons and how mechanics and human beings should smuggle themselves in same trucks with cows from the north.

“We are very angry at their behaviour and we sincerely appreciate your smooth and matured way of handling the situation,” he stated.

Responding, Special Adviser to the State Governor on Security Matters and State Commander of Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye said Governor  Oluwarotimi Akeredolu is a man who loves and accommodates visitors in the state.

He said Ondo state is not against Hausa, Fulani or any other tribes, saying the people here have been living together for a long time.

Adeleye submitted that it is the same law that guides the Yoruba man in Ondo state is the same law that protects the Hausa or Fulani man in Ondo state as well.

“We, Amotekun Corps are here and we are working with other security Agencies in the state, such as; the Police, Army, DSS and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) to ensure the state is safe.

“Nobody can hold you when you are going about your legitimate duty or business”, he assured the visitors.
