Charity Football Club win 3rd edition of Akogun football competition

Charity Football Club of Ikanmu have defeated Wangara Football Club 2 -1 to lift the third edition of Akogun Olugbenga Omole football competition decided at Ojomirin High School, Agba Oka.
Over 5000 spectators including the traditional rulers in the community watched the entertaining final football competition that saw Wangara FC taking the lead from a beautiful team work early in the encounter, but Charity FC responded swiftly to get a leveler before the referee signalled the end of the first half.
The struggle for the champions continued in the second half as Charity FC Ikanmu got a better side of their Wangara to net the second goal that earned them the trophy .
The Olubaka of Oka, Dr Yusuf Adebori Adeleye OON, commended the organiser for his consistency in heralding talents in the community .
ACE striker, Mutiu Adepoju commended the organiser for his vision to unearth the talents at the grassroots.
He said there are lots of talents in the country which he said grassroots competition would have brought to the lime light if all well meaning Nigerians are focused on grassroots football development.
“We have discovered talents here today, despite the condition of the pitch they played on,” he said.
The organiser of the competition, Akogun Olugbenga Omole said the purpose of organising the competition was not only to unearth the budding talents abound in his constituency but to have one of the best and most effective Football Academy in Nigeria situated in Oka Akoko in the nearest future.
According to him, the foundation of the football Academy will be laid before Oka day next year and everyone gathered will help to lay the foundation God’s willing.
“The Academy when put in place will not only provide jobs for our people but it will permanently put Oka on the World map, one of the most veritable platforms to harness and unite for better productivity is through sports.
“Football is a huge business globally and many talents have made it big through that, not everyone will be on the pitch playing but there are many sides to the game, coaching, training, ground men kits designers , advertising, referee, pitch design and many more are means to make fortune from football.”
“My aim remain the same, which is to continue giving platform to the budding talents in the community to excel, even if I’m out office God willing it won’t stop me from doing what I derive joy in doing for my people.”
“Seven players have been discovered in this year edition that would be monitor, nurture to stardom for the glory of Oka Akoko and the state at large.”
Trophies were later presented to the winners while individual prizes went to the highest goal scorer, best goalkeeper, and most valuable player, best coach and others .
