Children’s Day: ODSG to distribute palliatives to pupils, stakeholders

As part of the commemoration of the 2024 Children’s Day, the Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has approved the distribution of palliative commodities to pupils in public primary schools and stakeholders in the basic education sector across the state.

As contained in a statement signed by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Ondo State Basic Education Board (ODSUBEB), Prince Bolu Diesel Ajijo, the Chairman of the Board, Victor Olabimtan, said the commodities include food items such as Indomie Noodles, Rice, Pupuru, and Garri, already packed in 10 kg each, as well as writing materials.

The distribution of the items will take place on Tuesday, May 28 at St. James’ CAC Mega Primary School, Irowo, Akure by 10 a.m.

Olabimtan explained that the distribution of the commodities is part of the State Government’s deliberate efforts to cushion the effects of the rising cost of living on students and their parents and to increase pupil enrolment in public primary schools.

He noted that the School Feeding Programme introduced by the Federal Government was aimed at combating the growing menace of out-of-school children in the country and encouraging pupil enrolment in public primary schools.

The ODSUBEB boss commended the State Governor for the gesture, despite dwindling state resources and increasing needs from other critical sectors, saying it would go a long way in achieving the purpose of taming the menace of out-of-school children in the state and boosting enrolment in public primary schools.

The breakdown of the commodities to be distributed, as provided by the statement, includes 10,000 cartons of Indomie Noodles, Ondo State Sunshine Rice, Pupuru, Garri, combination packs, and big notes.
